Swimming alone in the Gulf of Papagayo

This collection of essays explores the in-between space one occupies as an outsider, a writer, an adolescent, a traveler, a woman, and a person in search of who they are. The collection of reflections, vignettes, essays, and lists are connected by the common themes of loss, love, exploration, and longing, as they explore the circumstances surrounding and the fallout from an abortion. Almost as important as what happens in this collection is what does not, and it is in that in-between, liminal space, where this collection seeks to discover what makes us who we are.
