A compilation of religious and inspirational literature

The selection and compilation of religious and inspirational literature suitable for church programing, and for use as instructional material by speech in secondary education, is the problem. The purpose of this study are: 1. To bring together some of the most profound stories and poems of the human spirit, by some of the great authors of the ages—poems and stories that will appeal to the emotions as well as the intellect—poems and stories that will have as an intense effect upon the reader as on the listener. 2. To fill a felt as well as an expressed need by teachers of interpretation in the high school for literature with an emotional impact designed to build character through arousing and stimulating the growth of worthwhile ideals—literature which will point to purer, higher, more spiritual ideals. 3. To fulfill the need students feel for ideals by providing material of beauty and inspiration in which may be found strength and courage. 4. To provide the reservoir of material of literary worth and spiritual significance upon which religious organization might draw for programs.
