The effects of an 8-week sports-specific intervention on improving strength and function in adolescent female soccer players

Background: Soccer players experience more knee injuries than any other sport, with anterior cruciate ligament tears and patellofemoral pain syndrome being the 2 most common knee injuries in this population. Risk factors for these injuries include decreased hip abductor strength, increased rotational moments about the knee, and poor dynamic balance.
