The reaction of certain organo-magnesium and lithium compounds with 3-bromo-cyclohexene

The original purpose of' the present work was to develop and extend a previously reported method for the alkylation of 3-brol11ocyclohexene, an allylic-type halide, by the action of Grignard reagents. The problem had not progressed very far, however, before it became apparent that an entirely new procedure would have to be developed before the reaction could be useful in synthetic work.
