Synthesis and gas chromatography of some transition metal chelates

A method has been established for the synthesis and gas chromatography of Mn(HFA)2Py2 and Fe(HFA)2Py2. The synthetic method was found to be rapid, simple, and quantitative. Two different liquid stationary phases, SE-30 and QF-1 , were used in the attempt to separate a mixture of the above chelates. The compounds CO(HFA)3 and Fe(HFA)^ were chromatographed and the mixture of them separated. Of the two different detectors employed, the thermal conductivity and the flame ionization detector, only the latter was sensitive enough to detect the samples.
