Migratory beekeeping in California

The purpose of this study is to describe the seasonal distribution of honeybee colonies in California, and where possible, to analyze that distribution in terms of the factors that influence it. Aside from description of the seasonal pattern, an effort will be made to show that the two most important factors that influence the distribution are: (1) desire by the beekeeper for income from honey production and (2) pollination of commercial crops. Maps will be used to illustrate the seasonal distribution of bee colonies in California, and maps and tables will "be used to point out some of the factors that influence it. The methodology used in gathering the data and producing the maps will be discussed in Chapter III.
