Metropolitan law enforcement: a case study of Anchorage, Alaska

This study was directed toward the problem of how to most effectively provide law enforcement and crime control services within the Greater Anchorage Area. The organizational aspects of the problem, rather than the procedural, were the subject of the study. In this report is a description, analysis, and evaluation of those factors which were found to affect the system of police services in the Anchorage area. Based upon the needs of the Anchorage community, the degree to which those needs have been met, and the appropriateness of various alternatives as determined in the study, specific recommendations are made for providing effective law enforcement and crime control services within the Greater Anchorage Area.
