  • Our 1999 Syrah was produced from grapes harvested from the Diener Vineyard in western Fresno County. The fermentable sugar, at harvest, measured 31" Brix. The 17 day fermentation that followed yielded a wine of 18.0% (v/v) alcohol. Subsequently, the alcohol was reduced by reverse osmosis to produce this and four companion wines ranging from 13.3-18.0% by volume. The students and staff of the Department of Viticulture and Enology at California State University, Fresno wish to achnowledge and thank John Diener for the donation of fruit and Clark Smith of Vinovation for advice and donation of the dealcoholization service.
