The 1968 presidential election proved to be an historic event in modern American politics. It saw the rebirth of a once forgotten political figure, and the resignation of one of the most powerful American presidents. The election provided the voter with many positive issues, and gave the candidates opportunities to voice their opinions on those issues. According to political analysts Carney and Way, the major issues of the campaign were: the urban crisis, poverty, inflation, civil rights, and the Vietnam War.

Since there Is no obligation to justify this thesis production as particularly adaptable to general high school and/or college use, a more advanced production was chosen. Because of the advanced nature of this study, the inherent problems will be magnified and many new problems will certainly be discovered.
